Cheese-Crusted Fries Recipe

Ingredients:
4 large potatoes (Russet or Yukon Gold work well)
2 cups shredded cheese (Cheddar, Mozzarella, or a blend)
1 tablespoon olive oil
Salt and pepper, to taste
Optional seasonings: garlic powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, or Italian herbs
Fresh chives or parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
Prepare Potatoes:
Wash and peel the potatoes (if desired). Cut them into fries or wedges of your preferred size.
Place the cut fries in a bowl of cold water for about 30 minutes to remove excess starch, which helps to achieve a crispier texture.
Dry the Fries:
Drain the potatoes and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels.
Season and Oil:
Place the fries in a large bowl. Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt, pepper, and any additional seasonings you like. Toss until the fries are evenly coated.
Bake the Fries:
Spread the fries in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy, flipping halfway through for even cooking.
Add Cheese:
Remove the fries from the oven. Sprinkle the shredded cheese generously over the hot fries.
Return the baking sheet to the oven and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Serve:
Take the fries out of the oven and let them cool for a minute. Garnish with chopped chives or parsley if desired, and serve hot with your favorite dipping sauces, like ranch, barbecue sauce, or sour cream.
Tips:
For extra flavor, try mixing different types of cheese or adding toppings like crispy bacon bits, jalapeños, or green onions.
You can also experiment with air frying the fries for a healthier option while still keeping them crispy.
Enjoy your homemade cheese-crusted fries!
