📝 Ingredients
For the Chocolate Cake:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1¾ cups granulated sugar
¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1½ teaspoons baking powder
1½ teaspoons baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
2 large eggs, room temperature
1 cup buttermilk
½ cup vegetable oil
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup hot brewed coffee or hot water
For the Chocolate Glaze:
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
½ cup heavy cream
2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
👩‍🍳 Instructions
Prepare the pan:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Generously grease a 10-inch Bundt pan with butter or nonstick baking spray, making sure to coat all the grooves carefully.
Mix the dry ingredients:
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until evenly combined.
Add the wet ingredients:
Add the eggs, buttermilk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Beat with a hand mixer or whisk until the batter becomes smooth and well combined.
Add the hot liquid:
Slowly pour in the hot coffee while mixing on low speed. The batter will become quite thin, but this is exactly what you want—it helps create an incredibly moist chocolate cake.
Bake:
Pour the batter evenly into the prepared Bundt pan. Gently tap the pan on the counter a couple of times to remove large air bubbles.
Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the thickest part of the cake comes out clean or with just a few moist crumbs.
Cool the cake:
Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 15–20 minutes. Carefully turn it onto a serving plate and allow it to cool completely.
🍫 Make the Chocolate Glaze
Place the chocolate chips, heavy cream, and butter in a small saucepan.
Heat over low heat, stirring constantly, until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth and glossy.
Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
Let the glaze cool for a few minutes so it thickens slightly.
Pour the chocolate glaze generously over the cooled cake, allowing it to drip beautifully down the sides.
✨ Optional Decoration
For an extra-special finish, sprinkle the cake with:
Chocolate shavings
Powdered sugar
Chopped walnuts or pecans
Mini chocolate chips
Fresh berries
🍰 Serving Tip
For the best texture, let the cake rest for 20–30 minutes after glazing before slicing. Serve each slice with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
This chocolate Bundt cake is incredibly rich, soft, and fudgy, with a beautiful chocolate topping that makes every bite irresistible! 🍫🍰
